Hyatt Place Dallas/Park Central

We have stayed in this location for three nights before new year. I didn't pay attention that this hotel is under innoviation, and was not allowed to cancel or change any other locations of Hyatt Place Dallas. That is okay. But the smell is irritant in the hallway, I was told there is no smells when I was calling them to cancel or change. They lied. The elevator didn't work during our stay. The problem is we were told "every single day" they would fix the elevator "tomorow". They lied too. The room size, especially the restroom size is much smaller than as shown in pictures. The pictures are cheating. The free breakfast was okay, not good no bad, but the staff serving the breakfast is nice.

The hotel is really outdated. The elevator had a squeaky noise and the other elevator was out of service my entire stay. Upon entering the building the smell is very disturbing. Smells like mildew. As I enter the room, it was pretty nice surprisingly. The tv and light on one side didn’t work but it had a nice view and layout. My room was right next to the elevator so I could hear everything. The walls are very thin. You can hear the busy street from your room, that wasn’t really a deal breaker for me though. I’m a heavy sleeper so I was fine with it. I tried to go down for breakfast and they stopped serving at like 9:40 ? Lady said around 10 or 10:30 when I checked in so that was odd. I wouldn’t come back personally and the stay was just was okay.

Perhaps this place is working to improve but it's current state is below average. At checkin we were informed that they would be entering the room for 45 minutes to replace curtains. Cool, do that after I check out. One of the 2 elevators was out of order. The key scanner to enter the hotel from the rear parking lot was broken. They shut off the water for 5 hours one day. The power went out in the room and they struggled to figure out how to fix it. The floor indicator sign in the elevator was hanging out of the wall. The location was good for my needs but I do not plan on returning.

EVERYTHING was out of order. This was not the Hyatt experience I nor my guests were expecting. I looked like a fool. Pool was out of order and from prior reviews, it's been out of order for a long while now. Only one elevator was available. Gates were open so there was not security. A/C was antiquated, toilet handle needed to be jiggled in order for water tank to refill. Same types of problems with the other rooms I reserved for my guests. Staff was not friendly and had a shrug it off type of attitude. Sunday morning breakfast was nice but there was not bacon nor sausage option for Saturday morning. Very disappointed.

Before I begin, I want to mention that the staff are incredibly friendly and kind. The low rating is due to how outdated the hotel is with misleading booking photos and also the fact that we decided to cut our trip short due to how unsatisfactory the hotel was in general. I booked on Expedia and it didn’t tell me the hotel was under construction. It did say it on the hotel website, but how was I supposed to know to check there? I’m assuming not a lot of rooms were open because we assigned to a room RIGHT UNDER the construction which was extremely loud for several hours. They also mentioned (AFTER CHECK IN) that the construction goes on from 7am-4/5pm. Basically all day…. When we asked if we could cancel the reservation after being told that, they said they could only refund the remaining nights since we already checked in. The rooms were older, the layout was weird and there were stains on the carpet. The bed and bathroom were clean though so that was good. Anyway, we stayed there for a night and they refunded us the remaining nights. We checked out the next day and booked at another hotel. Compared to the other Hyatt Place chains in Dallas though, this is probably the most outdated one but it may have to do with the place. Looking around, everything in Park Central area was kind of outdated/sketchy.

Rooms are spacious, location is good, breakfast is basic and service is poor. Stayed for four days and never had my room cleaned. I had a faulty room key and had to seek assistance from the receptionist or anyone around whenever I needed to enter. And sadly, it was not repaired until I leave. Overall, the experience doesn’t justify the cost.

The hotel was filthy! The lady at the desk was very rude and didn’t care about any of my concerns. I told her my sheets were dirty once I pulled the blanket back, this was at about noon, she asked if I wanted a discount because my room couldn’t be cleaned until the next day. The bar is actually the front desk. There was syrup on the a/c unit. The curtains were dirty. The pool was out of order. I could go on and on, I sent complaints to Hyatt, but no response, it is nearly a month later. Worst experience ever!
